The JCST is an advisory body to the four surgical Royal Colleges of the UK and Ireland, the Specialist Surgical Associations in Great Britain and Ireland, for all matters in relation to surgical training. With the advent of MMC and run-through training, the JCHST has made the transition to the Joint Committee on Surgical Training (JCST), as its remit has been expanded to cover all surgical training from ST1 through to Specialist Registration.

The application process for specialty training programmes for 2008 opens in January. Information on the next round of recruitment has been posted on the Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) website www.mmc.nhs.uk. Locum training posts will be advertised and recruited locally.

*Please note that the “Pink Book” and “Trainee Information” headings under the navigation bar are relevant only to UK Calman trainees (not Eire Calman trainees) appointed to higher surgical training programmes prior to 1 January 2007. More information regarding run-through training will be available on the website shortly. Meanwhile, please contact the specialty teams with specific questions or look at the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme (ISCP) website www.iscp.ac.uk for information on the syllabus and curriculum.
